Peanut We just wanted to say "Thank You" for the newest addition to our family, Peanut. She could not have been a more perfect fit for our family! She has a great amount of respect for her 5 new cat sisters and turtle brother. The cats have adjusted to her wonderfully, you can even find Pixel (one of our cats) cleaning her on a regular basis. Peanut came to us about 2 weeks into her heartworm treatment so we had to keep her quiet and calm for a couple more weeks. As we got closer to the end of her "quiet time" you could see her wonderful personality blossom. She loves everyone and every dog she sees! She loves to play, but she also loves to be lazy. I never thought someone could stay in bed as long as my husband does sometimes, but she is right there with him! She also loves car rides! We take her with us anywhere we can take her. Even though it has been almost 2 months, it seems like she has been with us all of her life! We all ove her very much and look forward to the years to come with her! Thank you again for such a wonderful companion! We love our little Princess! Blaine, Jenn, Roxy, Daydream, Pixel, Onyx, Gizmo and Big Turtle Haverty I also wanted to include a couple of pictures! We were all very excited about the new Underdog movie. Peanut wanted to show her support for her fellow Beagle! Who could deny such a beautiful face?! Yeah, I have it made!
Laila Laila continues to adjust to her home. She has made major strides. She is a very sweet pup w/ a lot of personality. We had a bunch of friends over for Labor Day, and she joined in, hesitantly, but nonetheless did a great job of fitting in. Laila is still very afraid of my husband. She acts like a different dog around him.....it breaks his heart. We are still working slowly but surely on her accepting him. She lets him feed her if I'm in the room, and she'll also let our daughter feed her. We almost think she got in trouble for eating before she was rescued because she has been so hesitant to eat or drink in front of us. Thanks for asking. Our hearts go out to this little girl as to what she must have been through. She is so sweet. Carolyn Smith
Hector Pam and I just wanted to drop you a line and give an update on Heck/ Bailey: It's been a year and Bailey has come a *long* way. He'll always be a little skittish, but he is such a happy, loving dog that Pam and I literally remark every day at how lucky we were to have found him. Thank you so much for going the extra mile to have him rescued. I've attached a few shots from a recent trip to the beach. Thanks again, Ben
Fletcher What perfect timing you have. I did change his name… it’s now Fergus short for Ferguson. And an odd thing just happened. Not bad just odd. I guess Duncan doesn’t have as much beagle in him and I haven’t experienced this before. I just took the boys outside for last call. I saw my motion detector light was on but it’s windy so I didn’t think anything of it. Well Fergus picked up a scent. He was quivering with scent. I figured cat or possum. He has done it before. I went walking toward the back of the yard to make sure whatever it was wasn’t still around when Fergus let out this horrible half bay. I looked back and he was in full light with nothing around. My goodness I thought he was hurt. I went running back but he was fine just still really sniffing. I made them both come into the house to make sure he was ok and he is. Now he is sitting at the back door sniffing away and actually sniffing the entire back wall of the house. Do beagles normally bay while they are sniffing out a scent? Over all Fergus is adjusting wonderfully. He still has some treat related issues. I recently gave them each a bone and he hopped up on the couch with his. I told him off and he growled and snapped. Well I ignored him, said no sternly and drew him off the couch with his collar. He was fine. And the next time he got a treat he didn’t hop on the couch. I think in time with work he will get over that. He loves car rides, walks and playing with other dogs. The vet visit was interesting but not as bad as it could have been. We did muzzle him but I think the vet tech did it too quickly. When the vet came in Fergus was very unhappy. But the vet was great, he talked to him and just pet him for several minutes. We managed to get his nails trimmed, a blood sample and he got a shot. He lets me take his collar on and off no problem. And I can pick him up while I am sitting on the floor and set him in my lap. Eventually I will expand on that. Fergus did very well over New Years too. I unfortunately have a neighborhood that loves fireworks, drives me bonkers. Duncan did great last year but not this year. I ended up on the couch between the two dogs with the tv up very loud until 1:00 am. Fergus wasn’t running around or barking but he was panting so I knew he was nervous. Duncan had some jealousy issues and was forgetting about using the outdoors and instead was using my dining room floor. I kenneled them at Fuzzies for a few days over Christmas and it seems to have had an unexpected wonderful bonding experience for the two of them. No issues since I have been back. When I sent his license into Animal Services they called me and asked if he had been neutered. I told them yes and they requested proof so I faxed it. The woman said when Fergus (Fletcher) was there he wasn’t neutered. So I guess Fergus came to Beagle Rescue through them? Do you know any more of his back story? I included a couple of pictures and you can “pester” me anytime. Everyone loves thinks Fergus is just the cutest. Hope your holidays were wonderful and I wish you the best in 2007. Ginny P.S. Many people have asked me where I got him and I certainly tell them along with expressing my satisfaction with TB Beagle Rescue. He is such a cutie he makes a good promotion for your organization.
Duke Thank you for checking on Duke. He's doing great! He's really become part of the family and seems to be very comfortable with us. He gets along very well with his little brother, Sparky, too. Duke is such a sweet dog! Thanks again! Becky Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
