Reba
Reba

We are settling in well. They getting along good. It is funny to see them run side by side in the yard. Reba is finally letting COCO get one on one attention. As I write. COCO is asleep on the couch and REBA is on the floor asleep. They are adjusting well to my routine. They seem to take turns on sleeping against me at night. We are family.

Rex
Rex

Things are fine he is warming up to people and getting more un-affraid. He likes to take baths and loves to sleep. We found out he likes the dog park also, running from tree to tree making his mark. Hahaha. He loves the kids and loves going to my job and meeting new people. He has made some friends in the complex we live in. I have noticed he growls a little bit at certain people and that is kinda weird. he stopped peeing in the house and we got him on a schedule now. He likes his cage but will not stay in there for more then 2hrs without barking but he is never alone for more than 2hrs. We have figured out a system to solve the separation problem. he is doing well though and we hope to have pictures soon. Bye Justin, Stacy, Josh, Rex and Newborn ***Update*** Rex is doing GREAT!!!! Justin is totally in love with him and says Rex is a new man. He is down to 36 pounds and loves going to the dog beach. Ofcourse, still somewhat shy but is so different from when he first arrived. Sleeps every night with Justin & his girlfriend--she says she can't tell who snores the loudest-Rex or Justin.

Russell
Russell

Thank you for asking about Russell and for letting me know about Beagle Palooza. I have to make a confession -- Russell is now Bo. Our daughter felt he was such a "Bo" because he is so loving and affectionate. So he's established at Connechussett as Bo Nusbaum (they told me he used to be Hayes before he was Russell!) I hope he doesn't end up on the Oprah Winfrey show ... Anyway, Russell/Bo is doing great. He loves his new home and family, and is best friends with the Golden Retriever next door.

Roxanne
Roxanne

I am writing to update you on Roxanne. Sorry I missed Saturday the 18th at Al Lopez but Roxy and I went to visit a friend in Savannah! We drove their and stayed at a house with two labs. She did SO well. She was fabulous in the car and loved visiting my friend. She did great with the labs too! She is SO much more alert now too! Don't get me wrong, she still sleeps a lot, but she is different! She still howls some days when I leave but other days she willingly goes in the crate. She is doing amazing with the schedule/leash thing...and she is so sweet to all people and even other dogs now. When I first got her, she seemed very timid around other dogs while on the leash...she is very happy now...the hair on her back doesn't stand up when she meets new dogs! She definitely isn't a morning dog, but as long as there is food involved she is ok! ...and best of all, I think we have MAYBE one pee accident a week now...only at night, when there is more than one person here and she doesn't know who to tell... The vet has her on a weight loss plan...except we are coming to the end of it and she still ranges between 37-39 pounds. He wants to test her thyroid...thinks it would explain the weight and lethargicness...I will let you know! Thanks for everything! Roxy has brought so much happiness to my life. I am so lucky to have her. I will email pictures soon too. Thanks again! Katie

Rocky
Rocky

You know how they say there is someone out there for everyone? Well, I think the same goes for dogs and dog owners too. Rocky is the perfect dog for our family. We enjoy his curiosity, endless energy, and his loving nature; he’s truly one of a kind. I’ll be the first one to admit; Rocky wouldn’t have been a good match for just anyone, our first beagle we had for 10 years, Skippy, molded us into the patient beagle lovers we are today. You see, Skippy was an epileptic beagle; we went through a lot with him and when he left us, we had a hole in our hearts that not just any puppy could fill. We knew we could never replace Mr. Skip (as we called him), but we knew there was a beagle out there for us. As soon as I saw Rocky; I knew he was the one! During the first week after the adoption; and a few pairs of chewed up flip flops later, Rocky really started to get used to us and his new home. It wasn’t long before he weaseled his way into sleeping with us at night; which I swore would never happen. He came to us crate trained and house broken, which was a god send! He’s just a normal puppy with lots of energy that needs his daily walks and playtime from us or he’ll act out to get our attention (thus, my flip flops). Rocky has been with us over 3 months now, and I’m happy to report prior to the holidays he passed his first obedience training class with flying colors! Our friends and neighbors can’t believe that he’s the same dog we brought home. Now don’t get me wrong, he wasn’t a ‘bad’ dog when we got him, just a “handful” was the way I’d describe him. He’s far from perfectly behaved, but the 8 week training really improved his manners he previously lacked. He can “sit”, “stay”, “come” and finally doesn’t pull on the lead anymore when we walk him. Shortly after we began the training class we noticed that Rocky always wanted to chew on our sheets, throw blankets, etc. I decided I’d give him his own blanket; a shot in the dark, but maybe it’s what he wanted. Sure enough, here we are months later and each night; Rocky gets his blanket and kneads it with his paws while he nibbles miniature bit size holes in his blanket. He’s never chewed anything since. ‘’I’ve never known a dog to have a security blanket; but Rocky definitely has one now. Maybe we should have changed his name to Linus! Although our 10 year old lab was our first rescue dog; which we obtained through an acquaintance of ours, Rocky our first ‘formal’ adoption we’ve made from a rescue site. I have to say that I’ll never get a pet from anywhere else. It really makes us feel good that we’ve given Rocky the loving home he deserves; and he’s given us so much in return- his faithful companionship! Thanks to all of you at The Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue for matching us up with Rocky and for the time and effort you all donate to save a beagle’s life. Stacy & Bryon Gibson
