Journey is a very special boy that we are honored to have been able to bring into rescue.  When Journey arrived at the shelter in Jacksonville after being picked up as a stray he was noted to have very painfully swollen, disfigured and cloudy eyes.  He was clearly blind and also suspected to be deaf.  Can you imagine how scary for him to be out wandering around on his own?!?!  This shelter was amazing and instead of discounting this clearly special needs boy, they saw his gentle amazing spirit still had so much to offer this world.  They vaccinated and neutered him, removed a tumorous testicle, repaired a hernia  and performed a very expensive surgery to remove both of his very painful eyes.  WOW!!  Journey still has severe dental disease and multiple fractured teeth.  He is doing very well but he has had a harder time adjusting to his new foster home than the other blind dogs there which we suspect is due to him probably being deaf.  We are still not sure about that.  He is finding his way around, in and out of the yard and otherwise doing so much better now.  His favorite thing to do in the whole world is sleep!!  Even more than eat ~ isn't that crazy??  He buries himself in his blankets and he's off to dreamland.  I guess deafness comes in handy when you love to sleep in a house full of foster beagles.  LOL.  Even their howling doesn't disturb him from his deep slumber.   Some people may be put off by a dog with no eyes but we think he is just perfect.  Journey will never have to wander scared and alone ever again for he is finally "home."

If you would like to donate toward his dental care TBBR and Journey will be most grateful.
