Johnny was found as a stray although it is apparent to his fosters he had a home at one time. He is heartworm negative and housebroken. He will bark once at the door to let people know he needs to go in or out of the house. In the home, he does not need to be crated although he has no difficulty going in and staying there for the night. Johnny knows how to sit and lay down and he stays with people when he is outside without a leash although he will need to be watched. The first time the front door was left open, Johnny left and started walking down the street. When he was called, he stopped and looked behind to see if it was him that the people wanted. Then he waited patiently for the people to catch up with him. The next day, while unloading groceries, his fosters decided to try him in the front yard without a leash. Sure enough, Johnny stayed in the yard with the other dogs and people. Besides being naturally good, he is very bright. Our family dog was throwing her toys in the air to get human applause. Johnny watched how the people gave her praise for this simple task so he got up and did it too. After the first few tosses he looked at us and wagged his tail. It was very sweet. Johnny is as laid back as any hound dog can be. Nothing seems to bother him and he is extremely gentle. Being a very easy going guy, he gets along great with the other dogs in the household and would be wonderful as a family dog. He will be receiving minor surgery to fix his cherry eye but TBBR will take care of that. All he needs is a home to call his own. Johnny would be an excellent addition to your home. Johnny is an awesome dog.
