Beagle : : Female (spayed) : : Senior
Belle Ami is a senior female beagle who was surrendered to animal control after being tethered on a chain in a yard. Belle Ami’s name is French for “beautiful friend” and that is all she wants to be in life –to snuggle and be a beautiful friend to whoever loves her. She is affectionate, and likes to stay close to her people. Belle is always nearby wherever they are. She gets along with her foster dog siblings, except that she does get jealous when they are getting food or attention or a bed that she wants, and then she will growl at them. She will snuggle with the other dogs if it is her idea. She would probably like best to be an only dog, but can tolerate other dogs if needed.
Belle Ami is moderately active and will follow you anywhere. She generally is quiet in the house and the yard unless she sees another dog or people pass by, and then she will bay for attention. She is friendly with strangers. Because she is strongly driven by food, she should be supervised around small children. She has never shown aggression to any person. Her house training is a work in progress – she will use a doggy door and go outside when that is available, but if it is not she will go inside. She gets restless and will go to the door when she needs to go out.
