Goose is a 10-month-old, neutered male with a very curious mind.  As an avid outdoorsman, he lived the first part of his life outside on a farm.  Coming to his foster fam at TBBR, was his first night in the comforts of a home.  He was frightened by something on the farm and does not care for being approached by hoomans on foot.  But he is learning to be around his foster family and sees that people can move about without scaring him.  He has zero aggression and doesn’t tremble with fear, he just tucks his tail and hides between the fence and trees.  Having slept 10 nights indoors as of the writing of this posting, and enjoying a fenced yard to explore, we see this shy guy coming out of his shell more and more every day.  He lets us pick him up and love on him.  He’s jumps at new noises but goes right back to what he was doing.  It’s all new to him, being inside.  He’s been excellent on the housetraining with only two accidents inside.  We do work from home, but he also holds it well overnight and did great one afternoon while we were gone for 7 hours.  He stays in a corral when we are gone since it is his first time being in a home, even though he’s just about full grown.

He is very quiet for a beagle, but don’t think he won’t find his arooooo someday, he is living with two beagles now and learning from them daily.  He will need his new forever family to have patience with him while he learns the be approached by people walking.  The Pet Safe Easy Walk dog harness is a big recommendation when he’s leashed, he doesn’t pull or try to run away with it on.  He does laps around the pool now with us as he learns that he is safe walking next to people.  He will need a fenced yard to explore and good follow through with housetraining.  Even though walking next to people is scary for him, if he is lying on a dog bed or in his corral, you can walk right up to him and pet him.  You can smoosh his little face, flip flop his ears, and play with his paws, he couldn’t care less..  This makes us think he would be fine with younger kids, and he’s great with the two resident beagles in his foster home.  He is starting to feel comfortable enough to play with the other dogs, he wags his tail and walks with that white tipped tail proudly in the air now.  He is going to make a wonderful companion and a great joy in someone’s life, he is a super sweet dog.

UPDATE 6/13: This beagle is certainly figuring out the world around him.  Curiosity is his favorite past time, watching him discover things for the first time is a true joy.  He’s become quite settled in his foster home, yet he is still leery of visitors.  With some more exposure to new people and places, he will be Mr. Sociable.  He already is with us, and he started out leery of us, too. He loves his cozy couch time and will lay his paw on you if you stop petting him.  He is so adorable.  If you are looking for a sweet, furry best friend, you must meet this guy!  All you need is chew toys, room to let out the zoomies as a speed beagle when it hits him, and a little patience with a little more puppy training.
