Beagle : : Male (neutered) : : Adult
Duke is a playful 2 year old male. He's 30 lb of sweet mushy love. He would love to be a hound puddle in your lap. He loves to play with toys and can be a trickster at times. He loves to pick things up and move them around. We're really lucky that he doesn't chew any of the objects, but he loves to carry things from room to room. Duke's foster parents had a pool party, and all the guests had to look for their shoes before they left, because Duke had moved them. ha ha ha Duke is a very handsome, soft, healthy guy. He is very smart and could be trained easily. He gets along with other dogs, and would do best in a household that has an active dog that likes to play too. Duke really would love another dog or kid to play fetch with. Duke is housetrained, but you have to make sure he goes pee before bedtime, because he'll try to hold it all night and most likely won't be able to. You HAVE to make him pee before bed.
He doesn't bark except when you leave him in a crate. Duke doesn't love his crate, but that's because his foster brother and sister dogs don't go in a crate, so we think he's confused. Duke really doesn't bark at squirrels or neighbors or even other dogs, he just doesn't like being in a crate and likes to tell us.
If you want a dog that loves to cuddle and play and rarely barks then Duke is the dog for you.
The first two weeks in his foster home, Duke was fed chicken and grain kibble, he got a bad rash on his belly and he was really itchy. After switching his food to salmon or lamb grain free kibble, he is no longer itchy.
He is heartworm positive and currently going through heartworm treatment. He will be getting his Heartworm injection the last week of June. He can go to a good home now if they are local to the Tampa Bay Area.
