Beagle : : Male (neutered) : : Senior
Jolly is the reason why we rescue. When Jolly arrived at the rescue he was struggling to use three legs. X-Rays showed arthritis in both hips. The vet suggested amputating the leg he wasn't using to help lessen the weight carried by the leg he was using. He was sent home to recover from his neuter before another surgery. Jolly didn't like what the vet had to say. Within a week, he started standing on the bad leg, then walking, then walking a bit faster. He still runs with a hop but it's kind of cute. We have weaned him off all pain medication and he is on a daily joint supplement. Jolly is a sweet old man who smiles in his sleep. He needs a fenced back yard as he has no interest in going for walks. Jolly likes to bark at house guests but wags his tail as he's doing it.
