Samuel is a wonderfully playful four year old boy who would thrive a loving home as the only dog.  He is smart, entertaining and very loving once he has built trust and friendship with his human/s. 

Samuel is known to have behavior issues but has made tremendous progress since coming to the rescue.  He will require a very structured environment.  

His behavior out of doors is impeccable; his behavior inside the home depends on it being routinized, fairly quiet and without the distraction of another animal.  Sam responds well to positive reinforcement (i.e. treats) but would probably regress if he is punished.  Ignoring bad behavior is fine; simply reinforcing good behavior works best.  He does very well when on a consistent daily schedule.

When first in a new place, Sam may be anxious and try to establish his place.  He may sit on a couch or a bed....right where YOU want to sit...or have sat before.  Don't try to force him to move.  Distract him instead.  Inspire him to move by tossing a toy or a treat and saying  “get down” or “come here”.  

You are adopting a really wonderful dog.  Give him space, let him set the tone and pace of your relationship, let him approach you (not the other way around) and find his comfort level.  After about six weeks, you will have smiling dog who is always wagging his tail and looking for your caress!!

All of our animals are sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested/treated for heartworm disease before adoption.
