Trixie is a beagle that is full of energy and cuddles. If you’re looking for a dog that loves to sleep next to you — or on you — then she is your beagle. Trixie appears to be house trained, and uses the doggy door to go in and out without issue at her foster family’s home.

Trixie loves toys, especially fluffy stuffed animals. Trixie will need her new home kept tidy, otherwise she might get at papers, wrappers, etc. and will chew on them.

She may be a bit skittish and shy around a large group of other dogs, like at a busy dog park. She will be her best in smaller groups of dogs. Trixie gets along well with other dogs (she made fast friends with two beagle boys in her foster home), and does especially well once she gets to know them. She hasn’t shown any aggression toward other dogs or humans during her time with her foster family. She is very interested in cats but isn’t aggressive towards them other than intense sniffing (her fosters have one indoor/outdoor cat).

Trixie doesn’t know any commands and pulls on her leash while walking, so patience and possibly some training will be needed from her new family.

Trixie is a little picky with her food. She likes dry food mixed with wet food, and prefers small pellets as her dry food type. She is also a bit picky with her treats, but will chew on bones and antlers, and prefers soft chewy treats rather than biscuits. She’s the first beagle her foster family has had that isn’t highly food motivated.

Trixie is an early riser. Her foster family has been playing with her and walking her before bed time to make sure she sleeps through the night, otherwise Trixie is usually wide awake at 4:00am. She will sleep on a dog bed at night, but she prefers to cuddle in bed. She will take naps in her crate during the day, but she’s been very well behaved so her foster family hasn’t needed to crate her much. Expect normal amount of whining when she’s crated before settling down.

All of our animals are sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested/treated for heartworm disease before adoption.
