Beagle / Mixed : : Female (spayed) : : Young
Pretzel is a Beagle mix. When she arrived at her foster homes, she was scared of everything. She hid in her crate and avoided contact with her humans and the other dogs in the house. She is getting over her fear very quickly. She will now approach them and touch them with her nose when she wants attention, follows them all over the house, and permits them to pet her and rub her belly. She will snuggle with them on the couch, and loves to snuggle with BJ, their male beagle. She is playful and energetic, and has kept herself busy relocating things all over the house. They keep finding stashes of dog toys, shoes, socks and other items hidden under furniture and in her crate. She is comfortable being crated and will sleep happily there.
Pretzel is progressing fast on her potty training. She has made a few mistakes while adjusting to being in the housw, but she clearly prefers to go outside to do her business. She needs to be monitored while in the house because she is still learning what she cannot play with - she is still exploring her world with her mouth, and anything she finds may wind up being chewed. She responds quickly to a verbal correction and should be easy to train. Her foster parents are working right now on getting her to take food by hand. Their dogs have been more than happy to demonstrate this skill for her. She dislikes being on a leash, and will try to pull out of her harness while on a lead.
