Mia has just arrived after battling pneumonia for weeks at a temporary and loving foster home. She has now recovered and is ready to start adjusting to life out of the shelter again.
Mia seems to have been through quite a lot, including somehow surviving a nasty slice across her poor nose that has left a permanent scar. She is sweet and super shy. We are hoping with some time and interacting with the young dogs in her foster home, she will come out of her shell soon. Mia is housetrained and walks well on a leash. Initially we started with small walks to get her accustomed to all our neighborhood noises. She now goes the full 45 minute walk with us and does well, especially when accompanied by another dog. She still gets nervous and will walk around you some and back up when scared but has made great progress. Mia will now gently take treats from us if we are very quiet upon her approach. She likes toys and is especially active in the morning.
