Beagle : : Female (spayed) : : Baby : : Small
Britain is just adorable!! She is still somewhat skittish with people but has made great progress since arriving. Her foster family feels that with just a little time she will warm up because she is already playing with the resident dogs. Britain doesn't have a mean bone in her body and gets along very well with other dogs. We feel she would do best in a home with another dog to continue her progress in adjusting to people.
When Britain arrived we noticed immediately that she had a slight limp. She has now seen the regular vet for xrays and a follow up with the orthopedist. It has been determined that this poor girl suffered a fracture in her earlier months and it was never treated. Now it is too late to repair her front left leg. This leaves Britain with a slight permanent limp. She is not in pain and gets along well. She will not be a good candidiate for long walks but will defintiely need exercise to keep fit. She should remain on really good joint supplements to fend off arthritis as she gets older. She could also benefit from physical therapy at home. Britain sleeps well in her crate. She will need a home where she will not be crated more than 4 hours at a time as she really isn't able to hold if for more than that at this time. She is doing well on the leash now. This girl is very sweet and we are anxious to see her continue to bloom!
