8-15-16 Update on Jughead from his foster parents:
Jughead is doing well following his neutering and heartworm treatment. His energy level is good and his appetite is back!
He gets along well with Bandit, the resident dog, and enjoys being close to the people in the house. He likes to snuggle on the couch or bed, but sleeps in the dog bed in his crate at night and when we must leave the house. No accidents in the crate. He has marked a few times since his surgery but it is greatly reduced and should stop soon. He no longer wears the belly band.
He has a great beagle bark which he only uses when excited or when he sees something interesting outside. We are working on improving his leash manners although he is fairly good already. He loves to explore the house and will try to pick up soft things (toys, socks, etc.) but is doing better understanding the 'leave it' command. He needs only ropes or hard toys as he will destroy anything with stuffing!
We genuinely think he has not been an indoor dog as he seems fascinated by everything inside the house, especially anything where he can see his reflection! He's a little rough around the edges but a complete sweetheart and seems eager to please his people. We also feel he may have been whipped or beaten as he cowers and is abnormally submissive whenever voices are raised.
We are continuing to work on boundaries and obedience. It's kind of like he's about a 9 month old puppy. He's absolutely precious and will be a great dog for someone!
