Adopt a Friend ... Save a Life

If you are planning to add a pet to your family, please adopt! Don't buy a pet from a pet store. Here are some photos of animals from a puppy mill. Puppy mills are the site where many beagle puppies are breed for pet stores across the country. The cute puppy you see at the pet store could have been bred at a place like this. These breeders don't care about the health or well-being of the parent dogs; they are only looking to make money off the puppies.

These puppies are kept in a very small, crowded cage until they are sent to a pet store. Is this the way you want your puppy's life to begin?

This poor beagle mom is bred and bred, with no concern for her health. She obviously has some skin condition and lived in a cramped, uncomfortable cage. Her puppies may be the most beautiful ones in the pet store ... but she does not deserve a life like this.

This beagle daddy is emaciated and in very poor health. Many of these dogs get little or no medical care and have a variety of medical problems, including heart worms.

This is the body of a beagle who was seized in a raid on a puppy mill. Like other beagles in puppy mills, this poor dog is terribly emaciated and desperately needs medical care.

Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue often has the opportunity to help adult dogs that have been saved from puppy mills. They are almost always terribly underweight and have no record of shots or other basic care. Many of the dogs have contracted heartworms because they are kept outside without recieving any preventative. Sometimes they have terribly sores on their paws, and often they have not even had nail trims.

If you want to add a beagle to your family, please do not support puppy mills by purchasing a puppy from a pet store.

I really want a beagle puppy, but I don't want to buy from a pet store. What should I do?

Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue does have a limited number of beagle puppies available for adoption from time to time. You are welcome to submitt an application and, if approved, we will place you on our waiting list for puppies. However, the wait for a puppy can be several months, so please be patient.

Also, you may want to reconsider adopting a young adult dog. Most of our dogs are between 1 and 3 years old, which is still a very young, playful age for a beagle. We can help you find a young adult beagle much sooner than a beagle puppy.
