Trish
Trish

On July 23, 2005, my daughter, grandson and I drove to Tampa from Naples to go to an adoption meet. When we were nearly in Tampa, we received a phone call saying that the meet had to be canceled at the last minute due to a transportation problem. Because we had travelled so far, the lady there (and I apologize, but I think her name was Cindy) agreed to meet us at a dog park with two of the beagles. She brought Pete who weighed about 40 pounds and Trish who weighed about 20 pounds. My daughter immediately bonded with Trish while my grandson bonded with both of them. We decided on Trish because my then 6-year old grandson was better able to "walk" her on a leash. Towards the end of last year, my daughter suffered bout after bout of flu, strep throat and ear infections. A week after Anthony turned 8, his mom was admitted to the hospital with pnuemonia. She was in intensive care for over a week. Then, she continued to run high fevers. It was discovered that she had an aggressive form of lymphoma and a bleeding disorder. She was transferred to Miami for experimental treatment. She was hospitalized for five weeks before she passed away. For the first time in his life, Anthony was separated from both me and his mother. He had never slept over anywhere without at least one of us. His grand-dad and step mom took turns with me staying in Miami for 3 or 4 days at a time. When I was in Miami, he stayed with his grand-dad -- and he got to take his dog, Trish with him. When I would call to check on him, he would tell me that he was fine but Trish was homesick. In 2005, I reluctantly allowed my daughter and grandson to get a dog -- and only with the condition that the dog be a beagle. I had been telling them that Anthony could have a dog when he turned 10. I am so thankful that I changed my mind. Trish is a wonderful friend and comfort to Anthony (and me). I thought of that this weekend -- more than six months after her death. So, I sent a small donation. Gail Addison

Trinket
Trinket

Trinket is doing great! We moved up to Chicago last Fall and are finally settling in. Of course there are days where we miss Florida and the wonderful dog parks (and temperature). The dog parks up here are either massively huge (30 to 68 acres!) or just not the same as our favorite one in Ft Lauderdale. After being cooped up in a hotel suite for 4 months, the pooches adore the new house with plenty of space to run in circles :) I forgot to update you last Winter, but being a Florida pooch, even though she likes to stay warm, Trinket had so much fun when it snows up here. She likes to jump up and snap at the snow, trying to catch some in her mouth :o). One most wonderful thing we stumbled across was a Beagle Meet-Up group here in the Chicago suburbs. They are the GREATEST group of folks. About 20-some beagles (and their humans) get together once a month and have absolutely SO much fun playing together. We've made some beagle best-friends there and Trinket loves making everyone chase her. Of course afterwards, all the beagles are tuckered out and having wonderful doggie dreams :o) I really hope you guys are going strong in your beagle rescue mission. I always encourage others who are looking for dogs to look for rescue orgs first. You guys are always doing a great job! - Warm hugs, Jocelyn

Teedoe
Teedoe

Here is an updated picture of TeeDoe, adopted August 29, 2006. 2-26-07 We adopted TeeDoe on August 29, 2006 and we are so glad that we did. He is everything that we wanted in a beagle. He plays with our cat and tries to antagonize the cat to chase him around. He loves going for long walks, chasing the little lizards, otters, birds and other dogs that may cross our path. When the weather gets warmer we would like to take him to the area dog parks and also to a dog friendly beach to see what he does with the water. We can’t thank you enough for all the nice and friendly volunteers that helped us with the adoption process. Thank You, Stacee, Greg, Angel and TeeDoe Dickensheets.

Tess
Tess

Hi there! Sorry it's been so long. I did get the vaccine records and I appreciate it. I LOVE MY DOG!! She's so smart and sweet and well behaved...I could go on and on! Only good things...except for her "love of literature!" Anyway, I feel so lucky and I want to thank you for probably the best gift I have ever gotten. I'm so excited to just have her. She sits, stays, lays down, ect...My next step is, when I say "bang, bang!" I want her to lay down and play dead! Her two best friends are Gracie(my roomate's dog, a doberman) and Charleston(yellow lab) along with all her other buddies at the dog park. She's got quite a nice social life...Better than mine that's for sure!!! Well that's all for now. I'll keep you posted and send pictures! I hope things are well in Tampa!!! Best wishes and hugs to all the Beagles, Dani and Hannah the Beagle.
