Sassy II
Sassy II

HI, I wanted to share my joy for Sassy with some TBBR people that could appreciate her accomplishments. March has been a very eventful month for Sassy. It has been a month of a lot of "firsts" for her. For the first time she jumped up a lounge chair and sat with me. For the first time she showed her presence when we had company for Easter and for the first time she went to a dog park and last but not least she barked !! We had always thought she could not bark due to abuse or a birth defect. But she was out in the yard playing with Scooter and she threw her head back and let out 2 beagle howls. Scooter was so shocked he stopped dead in his tracks and than went up to her and started smelling her mouth, as if he could not figure out where the sound came from. I think Sassy was just as shocked as he was because she quietly sat and let Scooter investigate and sniff. It was very cute. Luckily for us she has not repeated the barking and hopefully she will not start and try to make up for lost time. Sassy has made slow progress over the year, but when she does make progress it is that much sweeter. When I see her running and playing and coming up to me for hugs and kisses it brings tears to my eyes. Sassy may never be a social butterfly but she is a true joy and the sweetest little 24lb angel I have ever met. There were many times that I wanted to give up on her and I was so overwhlemed in the beginning with trying to deal with her issues and with Scooter's puppy antics that I truley thought I was losing my mind. I am so glad we stuck with it and have been able to give Sassy the trust, love and happiness that she truley deserves. As I type this I can hear her snoring in her bed and I don't even take that for granted. There was a time when she was so nervous and unsure of herself and her surrounding that for her to relax enough to snore would have been impossible. Thank you TBBR for your compassion and kindness to all the Sassys, Libbys, Laliahs, Aspens and Fionas of the world. Doreen Fontana

Sue
Sue

We're doing great! Katie Sue is settling in nicely. She eats like a horse and uses the doggy doors to go outside whenever she needs to. She sleeps with us at night like she's always had a place there. She and Norman (our other Beagle) are getting along pretty well. She follows him outside quite a bit, and she chases him around the yard now and then. He seems to enjoy it! I took her to the vet yesterday for her first visit and they said she was in great shape. We are taking a slow walk around the block every night, and she really likes that. Right now she's curled up on couch right next to me. I talked to Madeline tonight and she says it takes about 2 weeks for dogs to feel at home. I'm confident that in 2 weeks we'll all feel like Katie has always been ours. She sure is a sweetie. Thanks for taking such good care of her, and helping us find her. Teresa

Sparky III

Well we can't believe its been 3 months since we adopted Sparky it feels like he has allways been with us. He never had an accident in the house and we still can't get over how good he is. He still likes to sneak on the couch every now and then. But then we show him is nice cushy bed we got for him and then he settles down quickly. He is so loving and gentle with the kids. And not so nervous anymore. He is so cute how he greets us in the morning nuzzling his head in our laps. Sparky has lost weight and has moved down to the medium size collar. He goes for walks twice a day and loves them very much especially when he catches site & smell of a rabbit. As a result, he is more playfull & likes to run around the house when he has extra energy or walks around the house so proudly with his toy squirrel. He even does well on car rideds to visit family. He is just an all round great dog. We are so happy we adopted Sparky. We love him so much thank you for rescuing Sparky and for all of your love & hard work for these Beagles with a ton of personality. Erika and Family

We are all doing fine. We actually noticed on the note from her foster parents that her name was Sophie and she is responding to that very well. She is adjusting very well. She loves the kids and will be starting her training this week. My digital camera is not presently working, but I do have a role of film that I need to finish up and I know there are some of her on there. PS She is cat friendly. Her and the cat usually take a nap together on the couch after the kids go to bed. Sophie uses Oscar (our cat) as an ottoman. Thank you for the follow-up. Jen and Jay Campbell I think my wife responded back to you to let you know that we are working on getting some pictures developed and then I can scan them in and email them to you. Also, I wanted to let you know that Dr. Green at Medicine River has agreed to adopt Sophie (Sadie) as an "Official Pet Professor Pet" and will be providing our Vet needs pro bono. Thank you so much! Side Note: I took Sophie to the SPCA Pet Walk on Saturday. Our table was right in front of the Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue!! Funny Story: It was a good thing that I put one of our bandanas on Sophie because she chewed through her leash (twice!) and then she went over to hang out with some of the other beagles. I guess she remembered some scents! Anyway, I will definitely need to invest in a chain leash for future events!! We sure had fun there. Jay
