Pacer came to our house on January 7th, he was given up by his owner who said that he couldn't hunt. When we first got him in our house he was really cautious and shy. What a difference two weeks has made! Pacer has definitely come out of his shell with us and is a great dog. He has been much more active over the past few days, he loves going to the back yard and running around with our other two beagles. In the house he is still very calm for his age and is just starting to chew (which is totally normal for a dog his age). We are working with him so that he understands the difference between the throw pillow and his chew toys and I think he should pick it up pretty fast. I still believe that he will make a great pet and member of a family.

He loves his crate and often sleeps in there or will go and sit in the crate throughout the day. He also loves his pet bed in the living room and gets excited when he hears a dog barking on television. He still gets scared of noises (sirens, tv, etc) but is getting used to daily life in a house. He is also starting to respond to us when we call him which he would not do when we first got him. He also loves to be petted and no longer runs from us. He loves being petted on the chest and right by his ears.

I am also happy to report that he is still accident free in our house and in his crate. We have had him for almost two weeks and he has not had a single accident. He is able to hold it while he is crated during the day and throughout the night.

While my wife and I do not have children Pacer was around children this past weekend at the adoption event and seemed to get along fine with them. I'm not sure how he is around cats but I know he gets along with our other two beagles and has shown no signs of aggression. If you have any questions about Pacer please let me know. I think that if you have a home with a lot of love and you will see that you ended up with a great dog.
